The
Frank Turner Farms story is not one of “bright
lights and bright stars” nor is it one
that has been passed down from generation to
generation. It is quite simple. Frank tended
the livestock on a small family farm in South
Mobile County as a young boy. He dreamed of
one day owning his own farm with his livestock.
From humble beginnings, Frank along with
his wife, Penny, saved enough money to purchase
some land in west Mobile. Through the years,
for his birthdays, Christmases and all of the
other major holidays, Frank asked for cows
and cows he received. To their west Mobile
farm, the Turner family eventually added several
hundred acres in Lucedale, Mississippi and
several thousand acres in Lowndes County, Alabama,
allowing Turner Farms to serve their customers
from three different locations.
With much hard work and determination, what
started out as a hobby because of the simple
love of cattle, has turned into a lucrative
cattle operation. Frank and his family have
many people to thank for contributions making
their progression in the cattle business a
wonderful journey.
Today,
Frank’s eyes still light up
as he rides through his field looking at his “babies.” Frank
now dreams of retiring from his road construction
business to spend more time with his cattle.
Who knows? Maybe one day, the Turner Farms
story will be one that continues from generation
to generation.
